the Benefits of Kiwifruit
We all know we should eat an apple a day. What we don't all know is that we would probably be better off replacing it with a kiwifruit. The benefits of kiwifruit are massive and include helping to reduce the incidence of such serious diseases as cancer, heart disease, and heightened cholesterol.
Kiwifruits are packed to the brim with healthy nutrients. The average kiwifruit actually has more vitamin C in it that an orange. Not only this but you will consume almost 100 grams more folate if you replace your breakfast banana with a kiwifruit. Kiwifruits aren't only nutrient rich however with a juicy, tangy taste they are also delicious.
One of the more common ways people prevent heart disease is to take a daily aspirin. Research has shown this to be an effective way to thin the blood. However a healthier and more delicious way to achieve the same effect is to consume at least two kiwifruits a day. This is not the only way that kiwifruit helps to fight off heart disease. Kiwifruit also contains folate which reduces the homocysteine levels. Heightened homocysteine levels are directly related to the incidence of heart disease.
Heart disease is not the only way the humble kiwifruit can be a life saver. Some research indicates it may also play a role in repairing DNA damage. Damaged DNA can cause cancer. By consuming a few kiwi fruit daily you are taking preventive action against this disease. Most of us don't live as healthy lives as we know we should. We work too many hours and suffer stress because of it. We smoke and drink even though we know we shouldn't. Even if we manage to live fairly stress free lives while consuming a minimum of harmful substances we can still fall prey to the pollution that surrounds us. Our modern lifestyle is literally killing us. One way to prevent this is consume a daily kiwifruit. Kiwifruits actually help to protect cells from free radical damage.
Many people especially the elderly have problems with their digestive system. Kiwifruit is high in fibre which helps to ensure regular bowel movements and stool constituency. There are yet more benefits from consuming kiwifruit. Kiwifruit contains vitamin C and E. These are natural booster for the body's immunity system. Next time the cold and flu season comes around you might want to do yourself a favour and start stocking up on kiwifruit. If you find that your child is suffering from wheezing then you should be feeding them fruits which are high in vitamin C. Kiwifruit is one food that they won't complain about when you include it in their lunchbox.
They say that there is no free lunch in life. But a near exception to this rule would have to be the kiwifruit. Whilst being very high in nutritional value it is a very low kilojoule food. If you want to eat something which will provide you with lasting energy but won't find it's way to your waist you will want to consider this fruit.
